Local errors & omissions and commercial

Hiscox was one of the first insurers to write specialist policies for individual professions. As professionals (from architects and engineers to media and IT consultants) differ, so do their risks. We now cover over 150,000 small- to medium-sized businesses in Europe alone.

Professional liabilities

We provide legal liabilities insurance for small- to medium-sized enterprises, from the self-employed contractor to companies with multiple locations and hundreds of employees. In particular we cover accountants; healthcare professionals; architects; engineers; lawyers; management consultants; media companies; recruitment consultants; technology companies; and travel agencies. We cover many areas, from professional indemnity and employers’ liability, to public liability, employment practices liability and personal insurance for directors and officers.

Errors and omissions

Errors and omissions insurance – often known as professional indemnity in Europe – is a particular area of expertise. We provide specialist cover for any size of business, from consultants working on their own through to large multinationals.

Commercial office

Our commercial office packages are designed to give small- to medium-sized businesses the cover they need at a competitive price and with minimum fuss. Key features include: full theft cover; worldwide cover for laptops; cover for goods in transit; full loss of revenue cover; commercial legal expenses and the option to add other professional insurances.

Data Risks

Principally focussed on covering companies’ costs and liabilities in the event of a data breach, our Data Risks products help to protect businesses from a wide range of cyber exposures. We provide cover for forensic investigations, notification costs, credit monitoring and public relations following a data loss as well as the costs of claims from regulators and other third parties. We also offer modules covering cyber business interruption, cyber extortion, the costs of repair following a hack and liability claims from online content.
