It was announced on 27 July 2015 that an interim dividend of 8p per share would be paid on 16 September 2015 to shareholders on the register on 7 August 2015. As in previous years, a scrip dividend alternative will be offered.
For those shareholders or depositary interest holders who elect for the scrip dividend alternative the scrip reference share price will be 923.5p (being the average of the middle market quotations of the shares for the five business days following the announcement of the cash dividend).
The final date for receipt of elections by the registrars for the scrip dividend alternative is 26 August 2015. Shareholders who have previously elected for the scrip dividend alternative and wish to continue to receive their dividend in the form of shares need take no further action. Scrip mandate forms will be posted to those shareholders who have not already elected for the scrip dividend alternative on 10 August 2015. Depositary Interest Holders will need to make a fresh election via the CREST system in respect of this dividend in order to receive the scrip dividend alternative.
As a result of the Finance Act 2015, the UK tax treatment of scrip dividends has changed and this is explained in the Scrip Circular 2015, which is available at the link below.
