Supermodel (Kate Moss) consists of two different sized interlocking circles in gold-plated steel. Based on Cézanne's belief that all visible reality can be reduced to its geometrical essentials, Keith Coventry’s sculpture shows bodily proportion as a faceless and characterless perfection. The work is one of several Supermodel sculptures, each one named after an iconic fashion model from the 1990s - Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Claudia Schiffer are also immortalised in gold hoops. Each sculpture looks pretty much the same and each supermodel, for all her glamour, is shown to be as insubstantial as the celebrity culture she embodies.
Keith Coventry has exhibited widely in the UK and Europe and has work included in collections worldwide, such as The British Council; Tate Gallery; Arts Council of England; and the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
