Kathleen Ryan’s sculptures re-envision the detritus of American life. Spoiled fruits become monuments in glistening stone; industrial parts and domestic ephemera are transformed into plants and animals. Ryan works with a range of materials to create sculptures that reference natural forms and manufactured objects. She arranges her materials, contrasting the organic with the industrial, explosion with containment, elegance with kitsch, and gravity with weightlessness.
