Application process

The great thing about a growing and vibrant business like ours is the range of new career opportunities we can offer.

Join us and you’ll also be working with some of the best people in the business. Their talent, dedication and ‘never say never’ positive thinking are what makes our expanding business so successful. If that sounds like you, then we’d love to hear from you.

How do we look for new people?

Two requirements are non-negotiable when we’re recruiting:

  1. We will appoint the best person for the job
Sounds obvious doesn’t it? We’d hardly want to appoint the worst person for the job. But we go to huge lengths to make sure we get an objective assessment of every candidate we see. If you come for an interview, you will have every opportunity to make your strengths known to us.

  2. We are committed to equality of opportunity
We choose employees on merit alone. Whatever your gender, race, religion, marital status, sexuality, disability or age, if a combination of your experience, qualifications and, most importantly your attitude, are clearly the best for the role, then the job’s yours.

How we hire

We know that taking time off for interviews can be tricky and we will do our best to make sure that you will not be asked to visit our offices more than three times during the recruitment process. Interviews are as much a chance for you to take a good look under the bonnet at Hiscox and the role we are offering, as they are for us to consider you as a potential employee. It’s most definitely a two way thing.

  1. First interview
In most cases we start with an interview to find out whether you have the personal and professional skills we’re looking for. You also get to find out whether Hiscox is the sort of company where you want to develop your career.

  2. Here comes the science – psychometric testing
If you are successful after the first round and like what you see, your next step will be to take part in psychometric testing. This will probably include a critical thinking or ability test. You may be asked to complete a personality profile. These assessments help to give us a good indication as to the likelihood of whether you will both be successful in and, just as importantly, fulfilled by your job.

  3. Nearly there
Finally, if the psychometric testing went well, you will be asked to one or more interviews with senior managers. For some roles you may also meet some of our Directors. Questions at these later stages will cover more strategic business issues and your own ambitions for your career.

Of course, all applications are treated in the strictest confidence throughout the entire process.
