Our summer internships, alongside our graduate and apprenticeship programmes, form part of our strategy to develop talent and support early career professionals.
Year on year, we have welcomed enthusiastic and ambitious students to Hiscox offices on paid summer placements. Their interests and aptitudes are matched to roles where they can contribute, learn and feel part of the team.
Finn Lurcott, Research & Insight Intern, commented: “It has been fantastic being thrown right into fascinating projects, with my whole team having faith in my abilities to do things from early on."
“The atmosphere at Hiscox is so friendly, vibrant and inclusive.” added Anastasia Gurnell, Operations Intern.
Developing our talent pipeline
A mix of undergraduates and postgraduate students have joined us in towns and cities across the UK, the USA and Bermuda. This year’s cohort includes a part-time DJ, an accomplished sailor, a dancer, and a surfer. The interns bring new ideas and a fresh perspective to Hiscox, as well as helping us develop our talent pipeline for the years ahead.
Helping find solutions
From day one, the interns have been fully involved in their teams and taken on responsibility for delivering meaningful work from analysing risk exposures and website design, to meeting clients and building their internal networks. Alongside their jobs, they are working on team projects to help us find solutions to real business challenges, such as the changes brought on by the Insurance Act 2015.
Interns also receive training, so by the end of their time with us, they have developed transferable skills and gained valuable experience that will help them succeed in their future careers.
“We are delighted that our interns have settled in so well, and that Hiscox can make a difference to their future success.” Vanessa Newbury, Interim Head of Group HR.
