  • Congratulations to our team in York for raising £27,849.36 for local charity York Sands.

The stillbirth and neonatal death charity was delighted to receive the donation from members of the team.

Throughout 2018 our York colleagues hosted fundraising events including quizzes, bingo nights, bake-offs, raffles and a sponsored bungee jump. In the office ‘Ice Pop Fridays’ kept staff cool during the Summer heatwave, and those with a thirst for adrenaline took part in a challenge involving our York, London and Colchester offices to see which office could run, cycle, and row the furthest.

York Sands is a local branch of the UK-wide Sands charity consisting of volunteers offering emotional support to anyone who has lost a child during pregnancy, at birth or shortly afterwards. Sadly, 15 babies are stillborn or die shortly after birth every day in the UK.

The donation will go a long way in helping Sands continue to deliver crucial work supporting anyone affected by the death of a baby, improving bereavement care and promoting research to save more babies' lives. On average £1,500 is needed to run one of its local support groups for a year.
