Next year, The Mall in St James’s Park will be transformed to host its largest ever street party and we are delighted to have been chosen to be the official insurance provider for this event.
Taking place on Sunday 12th June 2016, the street party is designed to celebrate The Queen’s patronage of over 600 charities and organisations on the occasion of her 90th birthday. It will be an exciting and patriotic climax to a weekend of celebrations, which include a Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral and Trooping the Colour.
The street party itself is a huge undertaking. It is expected that 10,000 people will attend the event, alongside Her Majesty The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Duke of Cambridge and Prince Harry as well as other members of the Royal Family. The general public will be able to enjoy the festivities from large screens situated in Green Park and St James’s Park.
You can imagine the challenges presented by an event such as this, but our long history of insuring complex and unusual risks, high profile events, and irreplaceable items of national importance mean we are well placed to be involved in what is sure to be a memorable day. Now the hard work starts, and we’ll be working closely with Palace officials, the event organisers, event partners and other suppliers on planning and risk management to ensure the event goes without a hitch.
We’ll share more on this in the months that follow but in the meantime you can find out more at www.ThePatronsLunch.com (external link).
