Hiscox London Market expands Management Liability team with four new hires

London (4h June 2014) – Specialist global insurer Hiscox has built a new London Market Management Liability team and its four latest hires will be tasked with building its US and International Directors and Officers (D&O) Liability business, delivering an integrated approach between underwriting and claims.

As previously announced, Gary Lill and Suresh Ellawala join Hiscox as Line Underwriters, bringing their significant experience in the D&O market to the insurer. Gary has over 20 years experience in the London Market and was most recently at Allied World Assurance Company where he was the European Manager for Professional Liability. Suresh is a fully qualified solicitor and spent four years as an Assistant Vice President for Financial Lines with AIG before joining QBE where he was product leader for D&O and POSI. Both will be based in London.

Chris Moore joins the team as D&O Technical Claims Manager / Senior Vice President.  A qualified lawyer, Chris worked in private practice on the West Coast before spending 15 years at Marsh in the US as a Managing Director of the FINPRO practice.  This role provides dedicated D&O claims resource and will ensure an integrated approach between underwriting and claims – a critical component for a successful client offering.  Chris will be based in Hiscox USA’s San Francisco office.

Tony Kriesel, a dual US and UK qualified lawyer, who has worked in London for the last four years and is experienced in both US and International D&O joined the team at the end of May. Tony will be based in London.

Chris Warrior commented: “These are the final exciting additions to our new Management Liability practice.   These appointments build on the already significant Hiscox offering in the Private Company Management Liability space in the US, together with our UK and Continental European practice, and demonstrate our commitment to this line of business.  The new team will provide market leading expertise, and ensure that claims and underwriting are fully integrated to provide a superior claims outcome for our insureds. The reception from our broking partners and their clients to this news has been overwhelmingly positive.”

The new team is supported by casualty analyst Adrian Lewthwaite who has over 30 years of experience in the Management Liability and general insurance areas, pricing actuary Craig Knightley, and trainee underwriter Ed Whitworth.
