Lloyd's Building, 1995

Matthew Radford is a painter entranced by the life of the city all around him. The artist’s native London is the inspiration for many of his paintings. Through vibrant colour and sweeping strokes of paint, Radford captures the frenetic pace of London’s crowded streets and spaces. On close inspection, his paintings appear as colourful abstracts, however, with distance, people emerge and the scene shifts into focus.

Lloyds Building was commissioned by Hiscox in 1995. The paintings captures the heart of the insurance industry in full working mode.
